A Wind in Time pays homage to the composer's love of works for wind band based on folk music. The main folk-like theme undergoes various moods as it progresses through time. It begins as a slow and mysterious ballad with harmonies medieval in origin. As the music continues, the theme transforms into something more dramatic, almost like a call to battle. After the dust settles, there is a slight shift in the atmosphere as musical echoes of Ralph Vaughan Williams emerge during a short dance-like variation. Despite most of the music being in a minor key, there is a feeling of uplifting optimism that is captivating for both the musician and the audience. A Wind in Time is a winner of the 2021 Grand Mesa Music Publishers Composition and Arranging Contest.
